THE US ADMINISTRATION INFECTED CHILDREN WITH SYPHILIS

The US Department of Health & Human Services' syphilis experiments in Guatemala were conducted from 1946 to 1948 while the Nuremberg Trials were taking place against the Nazi doctors. They infected soldiers, prostitutes, prisoners, mental patients and children with syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases, without the knowledge of the subjects.

They treated some of the subjects with penicillin but many were left untreated while the US doctors continued to monitor the development of the disease in the infected into the 1950's. According to documents, at least 83 of the 5,500 adult subjects had died by the end of 1953, BBC writes in below article. In October 2010, the White House finally apologized to Guatemala.
